Observer's toolkit

Observer Logbook

Keep a private record of what you observed, the equipment you used, sky conditions, and what you noticed. Your log stays in this browser unless you export it.

New observation

Record the session while it is fresh.

Only the fields that are useful to you are required. Target and date/time are the minimum.

Nothing has been saved yet.

Your observing history

0 observations

Your logbook is empty.

Save your first observation on the left. Entries stay on this device until you delete them or clear this browser's storage.

Why keep a log?

Memory fades. Patterns do not.

A log makes it easier to learn which eyepieces worked, how seeing changed a planetary view, what a filter actually improved, which dark-sky site was worth the drive, and what you want to revisit under better conditions.

Private by default

Browser storage only

StarStation does not upload these entries to WordPress. Back up the JSON file if the log matters to you.

Portable

CSV + JSON export

Use CSV for spreadsheets and JSON as a restorable backup of the complete log.
