Visual setup
Aperture + focal length + eyepiece focal length can produce magnification and exit pupil.
Save the equipment combinations you actually use, then keep the important optical and imaging numbers attached to the setup. Profiles stay in this browser and can travel with Backup My StarStation.
StarStation does not need to pretend it has every telescope and camera ever made. Your own verified specifications are more useful for calculators than an incomplete product catalog. Enter only the fields that matter to the setup.
A profile can be as simple as one telescope and eyepiece or as complete as an imaging rig with a camera and field battery.
When the required fields are present, StarStation calculates telescope focal ratio, eyepiece magnification, exit pupil, approximate true field, camera image scale, and sensor field of view. Missing inputs stay missing instead of being guessed.
Aperture + focal length + eyepiece focal length can produce magnification and exit pupil.
Apparent field divided by magnification gives a useful first-order estimate of true field.
Pixel size and effective focal length produce image scale in arcseconds per pixel.
Sensor dimensions and focal length estimate the angular width and height of the camera frame.
Optical math can tell you what a setup should do geometrically. Real observing and imaging still depend on atmospheric conditions, mechanical quality, tracking, focus, sensor behavior, target choice, and technique.
Use the full telescope and camera calculators when you need more control.
Compare a whole eyepiece set on one telescope instead of only one combination.
Use focal length and sensor dimensions to visualize deep-sky framing.
Turn saved battery capacity into a realistic runtime estimate using actual rig loads.
