Community Guidelines

StarStation Community is for people who want to talk about astronomy, space exploration, observing, gear, astrophotography, and the science of the universe in a useful, welcoming way.

Be curious and respectful

Disagree with ideas, not people. Personal attacks, harassment, threats, slurs, and targeted abuse are not allowed.

Stay on topic

Use article discussions for the subject of that story. Use the Community Lounge for broader astronomy conversation, questions, and observing reports.

Separate evidence from opinion

When making scientific claims, link to reliable sources when possible. Clearly distinguish established findings, preliminary research, personal interpretation, and speculation.

No misinformation campaigns

Good-faith questions and disagreement are welcome. Repeatedly posting demonstrably false claims, fabricated sources, deceptive media, or coordinated misinformation may be removed.

No spam or undisclosed promotion

Do not use StarStation primarily to promote products, services, referral links, channels, or other websites. Relevant recommendations can be part of a real discussion, but commercial relationships should be disclosed.

Protect privacy

Do not post another person’s private information, contact details, precise home location, account information, or other sensitive personal data without permission.

Astrophotography and images

Only submit images you created or have permission to share. Credit requirements and submission licensing will be shown before reader image uploads are enabled.

Moderation

First-time commenters may be held for review. StarStation may remove content that violates these guidelines, close disruptive threads, or restrict repeat abuse. Moderation decisions do not imply agreement or disagreement with a viewpoint.

Corrections and appeals

If you believe a community post was removed in error, contact StarStation through the Contact page with the relevant discussion link and a short explanation.
