Observing Session Planner

Turn “I should go outside tonight” into a real plan. Save your date, location note, targets, equipment, and session goal privately in this browser, then put the session on your calendar.

Plan the session

Decide what success looks like before it gets dark.

A short plan prevents the first half-hour outside from becoming cable hunting, target indecision, or unnecessary gear changes. StarStation stores these plans locally. Nothing here is synced to a WordPress account.

Planning sequence
  1. 1. Check weather and Moon timing.
  2. 2. Pick a small target list that fits the session.
  3. 3. Write down the equipment the plan actually requires.
  4. 4. Put the session on your calendar.
  5. 5. Afterward, record what really happened in the Observer Logbook.

Plans stay in this browser and can be included in Backup My StarStation.

Saved plans

Your observing queue

Upcoming plans appear first. Completed sessions stay available until you remove them.

No observing sessions are saved in this browser yet. Create a plan above, then use the calendar button so the night does not disappear into your week.
Before the session

Use planning data for what it can tell you.

Weather, Moon timing, optical calculations, and a target list can improve your odds of a productive night. They cannot guarantee clear skies, atmospheric steadiness, target visibility, site access, or equipment performance.
